Translation by Sifu John A. Fey
1 a wise man does not think first and then act when the tao way of life presents itself
2 thinking first stops the moment from unfolding
when a mystery appears
he experiences it as completely as he is able drawing no conclusions about it
4 when his heart and mind are uplifted he feels
that dreams are far more tangible than waking truths
5 he treats every one and every thing with equanimity
6 he declares
hold the good and able as good and able
7 I hold the bad and inept as good and able
8 to hold them all as equal and excellent is to gain virtue exponentially
9 for one person or thing is not more or less important
than any other person or thing
10 truth is truth lies are truth
11 experiencing life in this way trains the bodymind to be united
with the virtuous way of experiencing life
12 you become peaceful and reserved drifting
within the field of all possibilities
13 playing like a child
1-2 MIND and BODY: Spontaneous actions and reactions in the face of life as it unfolds before you will build wisdom and maturity. If you think first, then you'll miss it.
3 BODY: The mystery is experienced mystically. It is important to note that Taoist education is held to be an "unlearning process."
4 BODY and MIND: These are the effects of experiencing life mystically.
5-9 MIND, HAND, and BODY: One of the psychological effects of the mystic experience is a growing sense that no event in spacetime is more or less important than any other event in spacetime. Taoists also employ equanimity as a cultivation technique.
10 HEART: Even at the core of a lie, the truth remains.
11-13 BODY and MIND: Being spontaneous, mystically experiencing everyday happenings,
regarding authentic education as an unlearning process and regarding all phenomena with equanimity brings a coherence to the entire bodymind that sets the stage for a profound awakening to the Tao Source.
