Translation by Sifu John A. Fey
1 knowing by not knowing is an unconscious
understanding
that exists subtly as transcendent and lofty
2 it is revealed knowledge that flows with ease from within
3 all the knowledge of the universe can be sensed at the corner of your senses
locked away inside each and every cell of your
bodymind
4 getting to it requires
that you flow with ease from within
5 trying to understand the subtle and transcendent consciously
will put you in a state of dis-ease
blocking the flow from within
This chapter continues the recitation of fundamental Taoist principles by the student. This recitation will continue well into Chapter Seventy-four. During this process, the Master remains silent as he draws more than 200 esoteric Chinese characters in small random groups for the student to copy and interpret. These are furious bursts of calligraphic call and response that intensify the mystic experience of direct transmission.
Both Master and student, to quote Dante, become
"transhumanized."
1 MIND: Taoist knowledge and understanding, which are difficult to describe, are acquired by searching the finite for the infinite.
2 MIND: Taoist understanding can only be attained through intuition.
3 MIND: The wisdom, knowledge, and secrets of the universe are already locked away inside your bodymind. You just have to unlock it.
4 MIND: Unlocking the transcendental wisdom and knowledge requires the cultivation of natural, balanced, and gentle methods of introspection.
5 HEART: Employing the direct methods of the conscious mind to investigate the Tao will interfere with your connection to the Tao Source of Life. Ultimately, mental, physical, and spiritual sickness will result.
