Translation by Sifu John A. Fey
1 when the powers and strengths of heaven float downward into the earth through man
the tao way of life presents itself to everyone and everything
2 horses trained by men behave naturally and
spontaneously
without any need for direction or control their beneficence unfolds naturally
3 but when the powers and strengths of heaven are blocked from flowing into the earth man becomes isolated
and inoffensive creatures become warlike multiplying in great numbers and profaning the sacred as the tao way of life recedes
4 the ancient child asks what then presents itself
5 dissatisfaction with one's own essential nature dissatisfaction with one's own gifts and deficits dissatisfaction with the very ground one stands on
6 the worst thing you can do is to extend and reach into the world
from a place of scarcity instead of abundance
7 one is restful
the other is restless
8 the restless place is an unnatural field sown with discontentment
9 the restful place is an inexhaustible sacred precinct that goes where you go providing everything you need in just the right amounts
10 secure the restful place
allow the power and strength of heaven to flow downward through you to the earth and quietly watch
the tao way of life present itself to everyone and everything through you
1 HEART and MIND: The Tao Source is constantly blessing, granting, giving, and providing mankind with an overflowing abundance. When a person acknowledges this fact, the Tao Way of Living reveals itself.
2 HEART and MIND: This is a portrait of the Taoist Cultivator. The wild part of mankind is not tamed through cultivation techniques. Instead, innate human wildness is trained so that it can act according to its natural instincts. What results, Taoists believe, is an evolved human being that channels and overflows abundant beneficence to the world around him.
Specifically, the power and strength of Heaven should be allowed to flow into the bodymind through the crown of the head.
3-5 MIND: This explains what occurs when people will not cultivate the Tao. When the Tao Source, manifesting itself through the power and strength of Heaven, is not allowed to flow into the bodymind, dissatisfaction results.
6 MIND: To live life in a state of "I'll never have enough" or "There isn't enough to go around" is to deny the Tao and retard your growth, as well as the growth of all mankind.
7-8 MIND and HAND: A restful state of being manifests abundance. A restless state of being manifests scarcity.
9 HEART: There is no shortage in Heaven. Once it is invoked, it will provide whatever you need.
10 HAND: These are meditation instructions. It is a way to place your self in alignment with the Tao Source and manifest the Tao Way of Lite.
