1 the tao source of life as a
ceaseless and everlasting universal force is oblique
2 and never does any single thing yet always does every single thing
3 hold this idea firmly in your mind and your body will naturally align with the universal force
4 senses and consciousness will turn inward and your whole being will rest peacefully while
your pure and elegant nature spontaneously fills you up
denying purchase to all confusion and
unnaturalness
5 this is how you transform yourself by anchoring yourself amidst the flow of a sea of lifeforce
6 by tranquilly sitting between heaven and earth
7 by turning around and listening to your soul
COMMENTARY 37
1-2 HEART and MIND: Paradoxical in nature as well as slightly out of phase with normal perception and understanding.
3 HAND and MIND: The basic Taoist mental stance.
Once this stance is assumed, it changes the Cultivator's physiology.
4 HAND and MIND: The results of the basic Taoist mental stance.
5-6 HAND, BODY and HEART: These are specific meditative instructions designed to draw out great wisdom from your innermost self. Taoists call this communing with your spirit, or shen.
7 MIND and HEART: The soul is constantly sending you all of the wisdom you require to establish a more coherent connection with the Tao Source.
