1 HAND: These are meditation instructions. The meditator brings attention to the object of meditation for a specified period of time and then releases attention on the object and moves onto another object.
2 HAND and MIND: Meditate by turning inward Taoists believe that the external world can best be explored, examined, and understood by exploring and examining the inner world of the individual. The inverse is also true. Employing this method of investigation yields transcendental knowledge and profound wisdom.
3 MIND: As authentic knowledge and wisdom appear within the consciousness of the Cultivator, a subtle mystical strength manifests called "wise force.
4 Wise force is employed to deepen the Taoist mystical experience. Specific information as to implementing wise force is intuitively revealed to each cutivator according to his or her individual needs.
5 HAND and MIND: These are instructions to help he Cultivator manage the deepening contemplative experience.
6 HAND and MIND: These are the effects of this meditation. They begin rather abruptly, giving the Cultivator a mild start. The meditator enters a reality construct in which flame, light, fog, and/or clouds envelope them. Accompanying these images is a perception that their corporeal limits begin to disappear and their primary sense organs begin to shut down.
7 HAND and MIND: Allow any fears, worries, uncomfortable feelings, or waves of emotion to drain downward toward the earth. Do not disturb the meditation by attempting to suppress any of these.
Completion of this phase of the meditation is verified by a feeling that can be described as a subtle conquering of the moment.
8 HAND and MIND: This is a description of the contemplative experience as the Taoist Cultivator succeeds in resting comfortably amid the changes
in consciousness.
9 HEART: This is a fundamental Taoist precept.
10 HAND: These are intermediate meditative
instructions.
11-15 HAND and HEART: These are specific instructions for closing the meditation revealed in this chapter. They insure a normalizing of bodymind function and a smooth return to consensus reality.
