COMMENTARY 28
1-2 HEART and MIND: The keys to reclaiming your essential nature are all around you and immediately accessible. All that is required is a mystic approach.
3 BODY, MIND, and HAND: There are three areas of the bodymind that Taoists see as points of ingress and egress for life-force energy. These are the lower dantien (a spot three and onehalf inches below your navel and one and a half inches beneath the surface of your lower abdomen), the middle dantien (located just beneath the surface of your breastbone), and the upper dantien (located between the eyebrows above the bridge of your nose and approximately one inch beneath the surface). Collectively, these are known as the three yao, or positions. As a specific meditation, Cultivators envision a gentle omni-directional extension of qi energy from these three positions into the Cultivator's immediate environment. This extension supports and invigorates any creative human endeavor such as art, music, craft, etc.
4 BODY, MIND, and HAND: Making something for the sheer joy of making it is the Taoist path to innocence, expanded awareness, and rediscovery of your pure unspoiled self.
Collectively, these are known as the three yao, or positions. As a specific meditation, Cultivators envision a gentle omni-directional extension of qi energy from these three positions into the Cultivator's immediate environment. This extension supports and invigorates any cre
